Flip

Flipping a card is the process of turning it from its front side to its back side, or vice versa.

Usually Leads, Enemies and States can be flipped.

When the last Secret is removed from a Lead on its front side, flip the card to its back side. (See details under: Lead.)

When an Enemy or State is retreated, flip the card to its back side. (See details under: Retreat.)

When a card is flipped, all Hacking cubes are discarded from it, but all other tokens and dice stay on it.

When a double-sided card is flipped it becomes a different card (even if the name of the card stays the same). Meaning, any effects that affected it before flipping ends.

When certain cards are flipped they can change their state from face-up to face-down, or vice versa. This only applies to cards that have unified backs (like Tools or encounter cards). (See details under: Face Up & Face Down and In Play & Out Of Play.)

Clarifications:

  • When a Lead is flipped back to its front side (through an effect), it is set up again (as if it came into play) and revealed effects are triggered.
  • When an Enemy is flipped face down through a general effect this does not automatically count as retreating it. (But afterwards it is considered a retreated card if it has an encounter card back.)
