Discarding Cards

Discarding a card describes the process of placing it in the corresponding discard pile.

If you discard an encounter card (from play or from the encounter deck) it is placed in the encounter discard pile.

If you need to discard any number of cards from your hand, place this many Action cards from your hand into your discard pile. If you have fewer cards in hand than you need to discard, discard all your Action cards in hand (there is no extra penalty).

You can choose which cards you discard unless the effect explicitly instructs you to discard cards at random.

Clarifications:

  • An effect that discards cards cannot be ignored with Hope.
  • If you are making a choice, you cannot choose an effect that discards more cards than you have in hand.
  • Discarding an Enemy or State does not count as defeating it.
