The rules of special decks are explained during episode setup.
Special decks only have their own special discard pile, if this is mentioned during episode setup. If no such pile is mentioned, the cards from a special deck are placed in the appropriate discard pile when they leave play – or are trashed, if no fitting discard pile is available.
- Encounter cards are placed in the encounter discard pile.
- Action cards are placed in the appropriate character discard pile.
- Cards of other types are trashed.

- Prisoner Deck
- Escalation Deck
