Choose

Effects can ask you to choose one or more options. You are only allowed to choose options that can be fully fulfilled. If no choice can be fully fulfilled you need to select an option that can at least be partially fulfilled. If no such option is available you ignore the effect.

If you are asked to choose multiple options, each option can only be chosen once. If you choose multiple options, resolve them in the order they are listed on the card.

Some additional rules for choices apply in solo play. (See details under: Solo Rules.)

Clarifications:

  • It is always a viable choice to trigger Surveillance or suffer Stress.
  • A choice that affects “all characters” or “all” of a specific game component is only viable, if the effect can be fully fulfilled by at least 1 character or for at least 1 game component.
  • A choice that involves finding, searching, or drawing a card from a deck or zone that is public information (for example the encounter discard pile or the staging deck) can only be made, if the card is available.
  • A choice is always viable, if it involves finding, searching, or drawing a specific card from a deck or in a zone that is hidden information (for example the encounter deck). (Details for how to handle situations where a specific card is not available can be found under: Find, Search, or Draw.)
  • A choice that includes a conditional effect is always viable, even if the condition is not met. (For example: It is viable to choose “Draw 1 Enemy from the encounter deck. Then, if there are any revealed Skulls: shuffle them back into the Grid” even if there are no revealed Skulls in the Grid. However, “Shuffle 1 revealed Skull back into the Grid” is only viable, if there is at least 1 Skull in the Grid.
  • “The group makes a decision” is not choosing. (See details under: Decisions as a Group.)
