Number of Tokens

An effect that counts the number of tokens being removed, obtained, dealt, or placed (normally the first Secret, the first support marker, the first Damage, or the first Hacking Cube), counts them independently of how many tokens the card actually has (or came into play with). This effect only counts the times the characters as a group actually removed, obtained, dealt, or placed such a token.

After a card is flipped (or re-enters the game) the count starts anew.

Example 1: If an Enemy comes into play with 2 damage already on them, you can still deal the first damage to them, even though they already have Damage.

Example 2: If an instruction in the storybook adds 1 additional Secret to a card during setup, you can only remove the first secret from this card once.

Clarifications:

  • If you remove, obtain, deal, or place multiple tokens, you still trigger effects that count the first, as long as one of them was the first.
